How It Works (on Twitter)

On this page we outline the 'anatomy' of a TLC booking on Twitter and the general process involving communications between you, TLC and your driver.

  1. Assuming you have a Twitter account, you’ll need to follow @tweetalondoncab on Twitter. Once you do, we will follow you back in order that Direct Messaging is available between us.

  2. When you want to book a journey send a Direct Message (DM) to @tweetalondoncab stating the pick-up time, exact location & destination of your desired trip. Please also include a contact telephone no, as you probably know Twitter isn’t always behaving and this may be the only way we can contact you. The reason we ask you to submit  your booking via DM is because we want to keep your personal information secure and as @tweetalondoncab is an open account, any general message will visible to the entire "twitterverse".

  3. When your Tweet is received, a TLC representative will reply via DM almost immediately. Should we require further information we will request this at this stage. For quotations/enquiries we will supply you with the relevant information at this point.

  4. Once the booking is accepted/confirmed by yourself and a driver has been allocated we will let you know the drivers details  (this will normally include the driver's name, twitter name and Taxi registration no).

  5. Once your booking is confirmed and pick-up time approaches, the first contact you will normally receive will be a phone call from your driver to tell you he/she is waiting at the appointed pick-up location.
Please note, for pre-booked jobs the Meter will only be engaged at the booked time. For ASAP bookings, the meter will be engaged on arrival at the appointed pick-up location. You will not be charged any "run-in" or additional extras WHATSOEVER.

  6. Please try and give us as much notice as you can when planning your journey. We currently think that a minimum of 30 minutes before you want to travel would be ideal, longer if possible particularly at busy times.

  7. Unfortunately, we cannot always guarantee that your request will be met (another reason to plan ahead). In addition, we won’t be offended if you hail a cab from the street before you make an arrangement with us. We’d just rather you didn’t do that if a driver is already on his way to an agreed pick-up. In any event, we will ALWAYS respond promptly to any requests we receive from our customers even if it is to apologise that we can't help you with a booking for any particular reason.

  8. Finally, please tell us how the experience went and more importantly, tell the twitterverse too! Feedback is very important to us!
