Frequently Asked Question's
Here are some of the most commonly-asked questions that TweetaLondonCab gets.
A: As you can see from our contact page, you can also contact TLC via other methods. We do ask that you try to give us at least 1 hours' notice if contacting by non-twitter avenues at present.
A: Not necessarily, depending upon the journey length/time of day, we can offer a fixed or capped price deal. Just send us your journey details and we will get back to you with a quotation. As a rule of thumb in terms of our competitiveness, on Fixed Price deals for the longer journey, we will ALWAYS beat Addison Lee's prices by at least 10%. Plus, given that companies such as this will invariably have a minimum fare, for the shorter journey you can almost guarantee we will be cheaper as we will revert to meter, wherein the minimum fare is the flag-fall of £2.20. So you can always be sure of a competitive quotation with TLC!!
A: ALL of our drivers, without exception have been met, in person, by at least one member of the TLC management team PRIOR to gaining access to our community. We verify that they are a Licensed London Taxi badge holder and that they meet the criteria that we require in terms of having a smart cab and smart appearance (we're not talking suit and tie here, but just not a scruff basically!). Copies of all driver's license documentation are held by TLC as a requirement of the Public Carriage Office, the governing body for London Taxi drivers.
A: TLC is aimed mainly at the advanced booking market. We ask that you always try to give us at least 1 hours' notice on any booking so that we can ensure we will get a driver allocated for your journey. However, we appreciate that one of the big advantages of the London Taxi is that you can walk out of your front door, put your hand in the air and hail us for your ride. We will always do our utmost to fulfill any job request but it must be appreciated that, particularly at busy times of the day, the size of our fleet is such that we may not be able to get a Taxi to you as and when you need it without any prior notice.
A: Just like any other London Taxi, what you see on the Meter is the price you pay (unless of course your journey has been booked on a fixed price agreement). There are no hidden charges, we do not charge any extra's or "run-in" fees whatsoever. As far as when the driver will start the meter, this depends upon whether you have booked for a set time or on an ASAP basis. Where a booking is made for a set pickup time, the driver will only switch on his/her meter AT THAT TIME, not before. So it is important to plan ahead and try not to be late for your appointed pickup time otherwise you may find your journey has already cost money before you step into the cab. Where a booking is made on an ASAP basis, the driver will start the meter on arrival at the agreed collection point, not before.
A: There will always be private operators who will undercut and undercut on price, we can't do much about that. What you have to remember when you use a Licensed London Taxi is that you are paying for the quality of the vehicle AND the driver. We cannot and will not compete with "Fred in a Shed" minicab operators who cut their margins to virtually zero just to secure work. We see that as unhealthy because it is compromising quality for quantity. Remember, ALL London Taxi's are purpose built for the job, they are the most rigorously tested vehicles on the streets of London and the drivers have all passed the world famous Knowledge of London, so you know you are in safe, insured, hands. Sometimes its not all about getting the cheapest deal, but we understand that for some people, that is what its all about. If you are one of those people then we wish you all the best but perhaps we aren't the carrier for you. What we would say though is please don't let this put you off enquiring with us again, every job is different and there is always a possibility we can provide a service for you in the future even if not for this particular job.
