Driver's Page

Welcome to Tweetalondoncab (TLC), whether you're already registered as one of our drivers or you're a newcomer to this site. On this page we hope to outline what TLC can offer to you, the licensed London cabbie. We also point you in the direction of our driver liaison contacts for more information. As you can see the entire concept of TLC is based around the social networking medium of "Twitter". Should you be a newcomer to Twitter or have no idea what it is all about, then your first port of call should be our A Little About Twitter page, where we offer some basic introduction to the concept and what it's all about.

Once you've got yourself a bit more au fait with Twitter, then read on......

New Drivers

There are a number of ways you can get yourself into the TLC "community". To sign-up with TLC, click here for information on how to submit your details.

The best way you can start is by attending one of the TLC-run "Twitter School" sessions which are held at various Cabbie watering holes around the capital (usually the Kings Cross Taxi centre in Camley Street). These are a useful exercise in not only learning some Twitter fundamentals, but also for seeing how Twitter works in conjunction with TLC and its drivers. Once you've attended one of these sessions you'll have a clear understanding of what TLC is all about from a drivers' perspective and whether it is something you want to sign up for. Keep your eyes peeled on the right, under Driver News for upcoming dates for TLC Twitter School.

You'll understand the following better once you've been to Twitter School, but this is a brief outline of our TLC service for drivers.

As far as drivers are concerned there are two main aspects to the TLC community, these being two Twitter services (or accounts).

Cabbie Updates

Otherwise known as 'Cabup', this is a Twitter account through which all TLC drivers post useful 'realtime' information for fellow drivers. Whether it be information relating to traffic jams/road closures or work demand alerts, it is posted here. This is an invaluable source of information for Taxi drivers and allows you to work much smarter. You can see traffic updates much more quickly than through the usual media outlets and avoid traffic jams.

In addition, by seeing the updates on rank volumes and work demand at various locations, you can plan your next source of work once you've cleared your current job.

TLC Chair

This is the account through which our TLC customer bookings are offered and allocated. Once you have access to this account you are eligible to claim any jobs advertised through it. You can also set up SMS text alerts for this account so that you are still notified of new job adverts even if you don't have Twitter running on your smartphone.

Both of these Accounts are 'protected' so that only TLC-registered cabbies have access to the information contained therein. This is the reason why we insist on meeting each and every prospective TLC driver in person and sends a copy of their License bill before they are granted access to this information. We value this information very highly and we treat as very precious!!

While you're here, why not tune into our friends at Back2Back FM and listen to their tweetalondoncab-sponsored radio show! Great tunes including Soul, Funk, Jazz, Dance and R&B, with many songs requested by our many drivers!

News and General

Announcements

2 September 2011

Tweetalondoncab (TLC) regret to announce that it is withdrawing from it's partnership with TaxiStop with immediate effect.  TLC has worked very hard trying to help produce a booking app that would benefit both taxi punters and drivers.  Unfortunately, it has not been possible to do so on terms that are mutually agreeable to both parties in the partnership.  We are disappointed to be making this decision, but we feel this is best for all involved.  If you would like any further information, please feel free to contact our "Chairman", Richard Cudlip at rjcudlip@gmail.com.

18 November 2010

TLC are pleased to announce the launch of the TLC Book Club, organised by driver William Grozier (@cabiblophile). Please click here for more details.

Twitter School.

The date of the next Twitter School session TBA, held at the Kings Cross Taxi Centre in Camley Street. If you are still a relative newcomer to Twitter and to TLC also, please try and find the time to come along to Twitter school, feedback from drivers has been excellent and they have found it very useful. It also gives you the opportunity to meet some fellow TLC drivers. For more information about Twitter school, click here.

TLC Golf Days

TLC (as you would imagine with Cabbies!!) has a very active golfing contingent. As such a number of golf days have been run with great success. The usual format is a 'North v South' of the river competition, whereby the natives of those areas take each other on at the golf course of choice. A great time is had by all and its a good opportunity to meet up with some of your fellow TLC drivers in a relaxed, informal atmosphere. Why not give it a go? All standards of player are welcomed, there is no 'golf snobbery' here!!

Next event: To Be Announced Shortly
